THE WORLD'S FAVORITE WATCH GETS A WHOLE NEW LOOK Timex Celebrates Success of Ironman Triathlon Watch With New Design, Features, Ad Campaign
Introduced in 1986 and named for the famed annual endurance event in Hawaii, the Timex Ironman Triathlon watch has been the #1 selling timepiece in America for eleven years running. Now Timex, the country's premiere watch manufacturer, introduces some exciting new additions to its best-selling watch line: a redesigned men's 8-lap series, an analog/digital combination model, and two styles of the Timex Ironman Triathlon with Data Link system. In addition, the new Timex Ironman Triathlon styles will mark the introduction of All Day Indiglo, a feature that will be incorporated into all new and existing digital styles as the year progresses. Indiglo night-light still illuminates the entire display with the push of a button, for easy reading in low light conditions. All Day Indiglo takes it one step further, employing state-of-the-art display material (much like that used in holograms) which optimizes the reflection of ambient light and results in greater contrast between the digits and the background. This makes the digital display easier to read when the night-light feature is not activated.
Redesigned 8-lap Series The redesigned Timex Ironman Triathlon, which includes all of the features and functions of the 8-lap series (outlined on Page 6), boasts a more streamlined silhouette, rubberized buttons, and a polyurethane strap that promises improved durability. Six styles will be in stores by June. The retail price for each is approximately $43.00.
Timex Ironman Triathlon ComboThe Timex Ironman Triathlon Combo offers the look of an analog combined with the precise timing features of the 8-lap digital model. A different time zone can be set on each of the dual time displays, or timing functions can be performed using the digital display while the analog still shows the time of day. The month/day/date are visible in the digital window, and both displays are illuminated simultaneously with the touch of the Indiglo night-light button. The Timex Ironman Triathlon Combo is expected in stores by July, and will be priced at approximately $50.00.
Timex Ironman Triathlon Watch with Data Link SystemIn addition to its impressive sport timing functions, this Ironman Triathlon watch incorporates the Timex Data Link system, a patented, award-winning technology that allows the user to wirelessly download information from a personal computer to the watch. Phone numbers and personal information, including daily, monthly, and yearly appointments, anniversaries, and reminder alarms; are entered into a computer using the included Timex- and Microsoft-developed software. Simply put the watch into communication mode and hold it in front of the computer monitor. The selected information is transferred to the watch in seconds via flashing bars of light - all without wires or cables.
